LA friends: As some of you know, I’ve become involved in starting the Silverlake branch of Citizens of the World Charter Schools (http://www.cwcsilverlake.org/). CWC is a network of schools (http://cwcschools.org/) based on an academically rigorous teaching methodology known as Constructivism that involves Project-Based Learning (similar to the Larchmont family of charter schools). The first CWC school started in Hollywood two years ago and is wildly successful with a huge wait list. The Silverlake school will open this fall and applications are being accepted now through April 30th for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades (the school will add one grade every year until K-7). Because this is our first year of operation in Silverlake, the applicant pool for the public random drawing (“lottery”) will likely never be smaller.
